The first of our Guatemalan offerings this season comes from the Tinamit Toliman co-op. The co-operatives 26 members farm in the mountains encasing Lake Atitlan in the Southern Highlands of Soloa.
This lot is sweet fruity, and a bit boozy. Notes of peach and pineapple with a jammy mouthfeel.
The mountains around Lake Atitlan really come through in this one — there's a bright, high-altitude character I haven't found in other Guatemalans this year. The mountains around Lake Atitlan really come through in the cup—there’s a clean, bright acidity that makes it perfect for my morning pour-over. Sad it’s sold out, I’ll be watching for the next batch from this co-op.
