ロースタリー仲間、Raw Material のコーヒーをご紹介します。「ギト」とはキニアルワンダ語で「小さい」という意味です。通常、これほど小さな豆は輸出されず、国内市場でのみ販売されます。小さい豆＝低品質という考えに疑問を持った Raw Material と Kilimbi 洗浄ステーションは、これらの小さな豆を選別し、密度ごとに分類してカッピングを行いました。予想通り、このコーヒーは素晴らしい味わいで、生産者はこの収穫の一部をより良い価格で販売できるようになりました。農家はチェリーをボートで Kilimbi に運びます。これが、ルワンダとコンゴ民主共和国の国境に位置するキブ湖に面したこのステーションにアクセスする唯一の方法です。
The tiny bean size really does make a difference here — the cup comes out surprisingly smooth and sweet, almost like a tea. I've bought a lot of Rwandan coffees over the years, and this one stands out for its delicate body. Already reordered a second bag before the first one ran out.
The bag arrived and the beans are genuinely tiny, but they brew up with a surprisingly hearty body that I wasn't expecting. It's become my quiet afternoon ritual to grind these and just savor the cup.
These little beans brew up surprisingly sweet and clean, way more depth than I expected from something so small. The bag's almost gone and I’m already planning my next order.
